Booking & Quotes
When should I schedule my shipment?
As soon as your travel dates are set. Booking 7–14 days ahead gives you the best mix of carrier availability and price. If you need immediate pickup, call us directly — additional fees may apply for rush pickup or short-term storage until a truck is available.
How do I get a quote?
Fill out the form on this page or call 1-800-590-6492 for up to 10 free quotes from licensed carriers. There’s no obligation to book.
Can you guarantee a specific pickup and delivery date?
Our carrier network makes every effort to hit the scheduled dates, but weather and unforeseen circumstances can occasionally cause delays. If that happens, you’ll get a status update as soon as we’re aware, typically within 24 hours of the original delivery estimate. If a fixed date is essential, ask about a guaranteed pickup window.
Why do multiple quotes matter?
Prices on the same route can vary by hundreds of dollars between carriers, and comparing quotes is the only reliable way to know you’re not overpaying. Here’s why getting multiple quotes matters.
Pickup & Delivery
Where will my car be picked up and delivered?
We offer door-to-door service anywhere the carrier can safely access with a transport truck. If your address isn’t accessible — a narrow street or gated community, for example — we’ll arrange a nearby convenient meeting point instead.
Do I have to be present for pickup and delivery?
You or a designated person must be present at both pickup and delivery. An inspection is performed and the Bill of Lading must be signed at each end — this document is your record of the vehicle’s condition and your primary protection if you ever need to file a damage claim.
What is an oversize fee?
Full-size SUVs, trucks, and other vehicles larger than a standard passenger car take up more carrier space, which can mean an added fee. Call for a quote specific to your vehicle’s dimensions.
Payment & Pricing
What payment methods do you accept?
Most carriers accept Visa, Mastercard, money orders, and cashier’s checks. Confirm accepted methods with your specific carrier when you book.
Will my final price match my quote?
A legitimate quote includes taxes, fuel surcharge, and handling fees upfront. See the full Texas Auto Transport Rates guide for what affects pricing and typical cost ranges.
What common mistakes lead to unexpected costs?
Not disclosing a non-running vehicle, modified dimensions, or an inaccessible address at booking are the most common causes of last-minute price changes. See more common mistakes to avoid.
Vehicle Prep & Condition
How do I prepare my vehicle for pickup?
Don’t fill the gas tank — a quarter tank is plenty. Remove all personal items, repair any chips or cracks in the windows, and if you’re shipping in winter, make sure the vehicle is ready for changing weather along the route.
Does shipping in summer or winter make a difference?
Yes — heat, storms, and hurricane season along the Gulf Coast can all affect scheduling. Here’s how summer conditions affect Texas auto transport, and if you’re shipping seasonally, see our guide on auto transport for snowbirds in Texas.
Can you ship a non-running vehicle?
Yes, but it requires a carrier with winch or forklift loading equipment. Always disclose non-running status when requesting your quote — not all carriers can accommodate it, and undisclosed issues can delay pickup.
Insurance & Protection
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Yes. All FMCSA-licensed carriers are required to carry cargo insurance, included in your quoted rate. Ask for the carrier’s current certificate of insurance before pickup.
What does the Bill of Lading actually protect me from?
It’s the official record of your vehicle’s condition at pickup and delivery. Inspect the vehicle carefully and note any damage before signing at either end — it’s your primary documentation if you need to file a claim.
How do I verify a carrier is legitimate before booking?
Check their DOT and MC numbers at FMCSA SAFER and confirm current insurance. See our full carrier verification guide for every step.
